Our History

Caring for Our Community

In 1955, at the age of 12, Larry Carithers took a summer job at a neighborhood florist and greenhouse. Little did he know he had set upon a path that would become his life's passion. Twenty years later, in 1974, Larry and his wife Jane founded Carithers Flowers. From the start, Larry and Jane had four goals:

  • Stock the widest variety of fresh flowers from around the world
  • Create unique artisan designs
  • Offer personalized customer service
  • Give back to the local community

The Carithers built their flagship location in 1984, a 12,500 square-foot design center and showroom in Cobb County just outside Atlanta. In 1990, son Charles Carithers joined the family business, opening Carithers Florist Wholesale to focus on importing new floral varieties, developing relationships with family farms around the world, and sourcing locally grown products from Georgia and the Southeast.

Carithers Flowers acquired several family florists in the early 2000s, including Weinstocks Flowers and Gifts, Atlanta Wildflowers, Charlene's, and Flowers From Holland LTD. Since its establishment, Larry and Jane's family florist has flourished, amassing a variety of awards and providing the floral designs for five presidential inaugurations along the way. Those four goals outlined by Larry and Jane are still at the heart of the Carithers Flowers experience today.
