As the last official weekend of summer, Labor Day offers numerous activities in the Atlanta area that provide fun in the sun.
Atlanta Labor Day Celebrations
Here are some of the cool events happening this weekend:
• Dragon Con is September 2-5 in the downtown area and is a large sci-fi/fantasy convention that offers something for everyone.
• The AJC Decatur Book Festival is September 2-4 and is the country’s largest independent book festival. There will be signings, readings, writing workshops and cooking demonstrations throughout the downtown area.
• The Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival is September 2-5 in Callaway Gardens and offers hot air balloons, live music, a classic car show and games at the beach.
• The Stone Mountain Labor Day Weekend is September 3-5 and offers a weekend of hiking, rock climbing, and sunning as well as fireworks and a laser show.
• Art in the Park is September 3-5 in Marietta and provides a way to enjoy art and photography as well as a walking tour of the historic district and children’s art alley. 
• The Big Peach Sizzler 10K takes place on Labor Day and is an Atlanta tradition. This 10K course takes runners from Chamblee to Buckhead and is intended to raise money for cystic fibrosis research. At the end of the race, there is food, music, and free stuff.
