October is Breast Cancer Awareness month across the country. For those of us in Atlanta, we have a deep connection with fighting this disease. All of us know someone that has dealt with breast cancer because it is such a large-spread type of cancer.

Here in Atlanta, we have many ways that we are raising awareness for breast cancer so that we can educate and collect money for further research. To get you involved, here are some of the ways you can participate during the month of October in Breast Cancer Awareness:

There is the Atlanta Two-Day Walk for Breast Cancer produced by It’s the Journey. Making Strides is another organization that has numerous events planned throughout Atlanta. Many Atlanta restaurants are also offering special meals where proceeds will go to breast cancer organizations.

Of course, one of the largest organizations in the nation dedicated to fighting breast cancer is the Susan G. Komen Foundation. They have many events, including a race, scheduled in October to help raise money and awareness.

Other groups also have some great events planned, including Sisters By Choice and ACTIVE’s 13th Annual Pink Ribbon Walk. Even the Atlanta Braves are getting involved with a Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
