Thanksgiving is more than appreciation for what we have, a food feast, football and Black Friday strategies. There are other great fun-filled and festive things that you can do in Atlanta on Thanksgiving Day that brings loved ones together and creates great memories. Here is information on two of our favorite Thanksgiving Day Events. 2014 Atlanta Half Marathon and Thanksgiving Day 5K Organized by the Atlanta Track Club, the Atlanta Half Marathon and Thanksgiving Day 5K run/walk is an Atlanta tradition. Thousands of participants and volunteers take part in this event that also includes the Mashed Potato Mile Kids’ Fun Run and the Gravy Gallop. This encourages the whole family to be and stay active not to mention work up a great appetite for a scrumptious meal later on in the day. Show Your Support for Veteran’s Day

Veteran’s Day is Tuesday, November 11th, but the city of Atlanta is celebrating early with its special Veteran’s Day Parade on Saturday, November 8th. The 33rd Annual Atlanta Veterans Day Parade kicks off at 11:11am. The theme this year honors our Korean War Veterans who will participate in the parade and are welcome as special guests. This year’s Grand Marshal is Capt. Dale Dye USMC (Retired).  The 2014 Veterans Festival is presented by the Georgia Veterans Day Parade Association of Atlanta, Inc.  The festival takes place on November 8, 2014 between 10:00am and 3:00pm and will be located at Pemberton Park between the World of Coca Cola and the Georgia Aquarium. The Georgia Veterans Day Parade Association of Atlanta, Inc. will also host the 2014 Freedom Ball the evening of November 8, 2014, in Atlanta, Georgia.
