Gerbera Daisies

Carithers Flowers Design Favorite

The Carithers Flowers floral design team absolutely loves the Gerbera Daisy. The flower comes in many breathtaking colors as pictured in the photos included on this page. The Gerbera is commonly referred to as the African Daisy. Our favorite way to present the Gerbera Daisy is in clear vase so the long green Gerbera stems add to the overall presentation. There are more than 30 species of Gerbera Daisies that grow in the wild.

Gerbera Daisies are quite popular with people who enjoy gardening. The flower is extremely easy to work with and as you can see from the photos adds an array of vibrant color to any garden or green house. These daisies as you can see, vary in size and shape and provide tremendous flexibility to any floral arrangement. The most common Gerbera Daisy colors are yellow, red, orange, pink, white and purple. Another striking characteristic of these popular flowers is the defined black center. It is not uncommon for a Gerbera to have petals that have multiple colors on the same flower.

Growing Recommendations - Gerbera Daisies

These hearty flowers really enjoy the sun. We recommend planting them in areas with mostly sun to partial shade. Make sure that you feed your daisies on a regular basis, using a soluble fertilizer and be careful not to over water. The amount of water you need will depend upon the amount of direct sun light your Gerberas are subject to. Do not plant your Gerbera's too deep, the can develop a form of crown rot when planted too deep, which can severely impede the health of the plant.
